This is a very good full of valuable information about search engine optimization. This is not a beginner’s book to SEO, it assumes basic knowledge. It is not on the other hand heavily technical. It does not give a formula for setting up a website to maximize its SEO potential. Websites are unique and require different strategies to maximize their SEO and this book explains it.

You will find lots of examples and techniques used in various ways that would increase the ranking within search engines. It also discusses, and gives examples of so-called tricks that have been used in the past to increase rankings. It does points out the danger of using such tricks in the present environment.

There is plenty of information for the web developers and webmasters to consider when developing for a site. Such as the drawbacks of using Flash or Silverlight in regards to SEO. The importance of naming conventions for such things as images. The book discusses site hierarchy as it applies to search engine optimization. Linking, the dos and don’ts. What works, what works best.

The book is an easy read, and although it requires some technical knowledge, almost anyone with a basic level of understanding should have no problem. If someone wants to be an SEO expert, they might feel the need to read this book will are cover to cover. For others it would make a good reference book or something to be skimmed through picking out the information that may apply to the work they’re doing.

This is the best book I have found for both Google and Bing optimization. I own a restaurant and as welding dupply. My business showed up on page 26 of a Google search. After reading this book I have implimented about 25% of it and I am already on page 2 of Google and page 1 of Bing for my search terms. And thanks to this book, I know how to see what my rankings are on Google and Bing. I highly recommend this book.

      UPDATE

I have since hired Sean Odom to do my SEO work on all of my websites and he had them as number 1 on all of my search terms! Great Job!

This book is not just about Google and Bing rankings or keywords, this book is clearly a focus and the author has a very humorous and a teachers personality. You can tell he has taught people and because of that he is very thorough and understands when what he is talking about will cause you to have questions. This book takes a 360 degree approach to Search Engine Optimization that is for sure. It considers not just the code on your website, but such things as your ISP, who is hosting it, external rankings by others, social media marketing and link building. I’ve read some other books on SEO and this is the most comprehensive guide I’ve seen to help a website owner create a complete marketing campaign on the web. Make the search engiones work for you with the code and examples which you can use straight out of the book directly into their website. If you are a novice or an advanced SEO person, this is the book for you.

You know it’s not a good book when all the Reviews here are obviously written by the same person. All the Reviews have the word ‘Awesome’ in them. Give me a break. And all the reviews have an exclamation point. Real-person reviews don’t have exclamation points. And the reviews start out the same “This book…”. Trust me, the book is written just as poorly as these bonehead reviews. I just hate it when authors are such bad writers they can’t even fake the Amazon reviews well.

I am one of the network administrator for REI. Don’t beleive me? Email me at: [...]. There is a reason why Sean Odom’s book is a bestseller. He started the SEO industry and he knows how to keep a website in the top position. We have over 30 keyword we need to have come up on the first page on Google and Bing for search terms such as “camping gear”, “mountain gear” and much more. I have bought the SEO books he writes since 2008 and every year he is right on what needs to be done to keep a website on the front pages. Sean Odom is the best at what he does! Every year the algorithms the search engines use change and if you don’t have the latest information you are lost. Take it from me, a person who not only reads the authors books but sees his results every day. In the past 2 years that [...] has done our website it has never left the first page of Google for any of our search terms. There is a reason. He knows his stuff.

      UPDATE:

Amazon apparently will not let me leave my email address so you can get it from my Hash at: [...] or my blog at: [...]

I am a website owner that is so short of time, in a budget crunch and not much time. I have known that I needed to do something about Search Engine optimization for some time, but hiring an SEO firm is just too expensive. I must say, the author of this book makes it an easy read which is a pleasure is good for me. He plugs what he does from time to time but you can’t blame him. He knows what he is talking about and alot of theis stuff is over peoples heads and they need to know where to go and get help. Based on what I learned in this book I really feel confident to do my own SEO work. I feel that I know how to check when things change on the different search engine and how to judge my competition. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has an SEO need.

I was looking for fresh SEO content and SEO 2010 has a lot of great information. The style of writing makes it easy to plow through the information and as my 3 stars indicate I did like it. It could have gotten an additional star if it wasn’t for the shameless plugs for the seo services of the author.

He mentions several times through out the book how expensive his services cost and if you have enough money he will help you to. The capper for me is when he recommended a submission service [...]. This is one spamming looking site with no PR that through up spam warnings from my Norton insight.

Also they offer to take your money but there was no security lock? And yes this website also offers the books authors SEO services. The book is supposed to be a Do it yourself guide not a pre-sell for SEO services. Depending on your skill level this book can be helpful. I wish he would have not thrown in all the plugs!

I highly recommend; this SEO book.

This book is truly great. It’s like having an SEO expert showing you in very simple, step-by-step instructions, how to get your website or blog ranked #1 on Google and for Bing. When I launched my website, I was very frustrated to find that it wasn’t listed anywhere on the search engines.

After about 3 months, I was finally on page 3 of Google but has no traffic. So I was looking for an SEO book and found this one. When I was at the book store, there were a couple of others books on SEO but they seemed as though they were way too technical.

The book is separated into two parts. The first is about on-page step-by-step optimization techniques. The book tells you what you need to do on your website to achieve the highly coveted superior rankings. The second part, which focuses on off-page optimization reveals some great techniques for publishing your website across the Internet and generating in-bound links to your site in less than a week. The white hat way and tells you to stay away from black hat ways.

This book sets the stage for the next evolution in marketing for websites. Pay-Per-Click does not have the return on investment that Search Engine Optimization(SEO) can acheive, and the authors do a very good job of outlining exactly why this is. There aree many different parts of a website both on page and off which can be manipulated to some extent by a search engine optimizer which you can become after reading this book. The authors do an excellent job explaining the many pitfalls that can arise when SEO is done incorrectly. Without this book I lost hope, but every day I see my rankings go up for the words I chose because I learned the correct principles from this book. I cannot wait to see what is new in thwe 2011 book in August.
